What is Black Friday?
Black Friday began as a shopping event in the US, and first came to the UK in 2010. Since then, it has firmly established itself as one of the biggest sale moments in the year, alongside the likes of Amazon Prime Day and the January sales.
Most retailers run flash sales for at least 24 hours on Black Friday itself, but an increasing number now begin discounts early, sometimes even weeks before the big day. Most sales run through Cyber Weekend until Cyber Monday, which always falls on the Monday after Black Friday.
Black Friday is usually the last opportunity you'll get to pick up bargains before Christmas, so it's an excellent opportunity to stock up on gifts.
When is Black Friday 2023?
Black Friday always takes place on the fourth Friday of November, after Thanksgiving – meaning it fell yesterday, Friday 24 November 2023. However, many brands began their sales early and will continue to run discounts through to Cyber Monday on Monday 27 November 2023.
How to find the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday beauty deals
Most major beauty brands and retailers now run Black Friday deals, so it pays to shop around to find the very best bargains for you. You may find that it's actually more affordable to buy your favourite products from a specialist beauty retailer, such as Cult Beauty or Lookfantastic, although you can often find amazing bargains on individual brands' websites too. Just make sure to do your research before adding to basket.
As with all sales shopping, it can be easy to go overboard and be swayed by price tags, but we're firm believers that it's best to concentrate on the products and brands you know you'll love and use, whether that's long-term favourites or luxury buys you've been wanting to sample for ages.
