Confession: I wasn’t at Glastonbury. For the first time in many years, I decided to give a weekend of unparalleled music, glorious hedonism, and joyful frolicking on Worthy Farm in the sun a miss. Do I regret that decision? Yes, massively. Instead, I spent the whole weekend watching all the headliners on the BBC and scrolling for the best bits from the fields on social media.

Here are just a few bits of what I saw that made me all the sadder not to be there.

Until next year...

Dua Lipa Made A Case For The Power Manifesting

On Friday night, headliner Dua Lipa presented an extravaganza of dance routines and confetti cannons along with non-stop bangers - from 'Levitating' and 'Physical', to 'Illusion' and newbies 'Houdini' and 'Training Season' - from start to end. For the performance she debuted five custom looks styled by Jaheel Weaver (who has worked with Rihanna for years) with lace-up leather, a Versace slip dress, huge studded belts and chunky Tiffany & Co jewellery. At one point she even wore an Acne T-shirt as a skirt.

The pop star told crowds of 100,000 that this moment was a result of manifesting, 'I’ve written this moment down and wished for it and dreamt it and worked so hard,' she told the screaming crowd. She’d even specified her desire to headline on the Pyramid stage on a Friday, 'because then I knew I could party for the next two days in the best place on Earth'. And party she did...

Actor Mescal clad in his now trademark uniform of short shorts (Adidas ones teamed with a band T-shirt and baseball cap) was captured en route to see Sunday's act Shania Twain singing her iconic lyric 'Let's go girls!' The hysteria could be heard for miles.

Disclosure Brought Out A Special Guest

During a set of House classics, Sam Smith joined Disclosure on set for a performance of their two collaborations, 'Latch' and 'Omen'. The crowd went wild. Iconic. Other notable cameos go to Mel C and Tilda Swinton joining Orbital, Sophie Ellis-Bextor teaming up with Peggy Gou and Romy from The xx paired with Jessie Ware.

Alexa Chung’s Many Excellent Slip Dresses

Fashion stakes rose at this year’s festival with Sienna Miller opting for white trousers, Daisy Edgar Jones rocked a mini dress and singer Olivia Dean chose a puffball tartan mini skirt by Chopova Lowena. But as always, no one does it better than festival GOAT Alexa Chung. The presenter wore a lacy yellow dress with a matching cardigan and a coat from her collaboration with Barbour one day, and a black lace trimmed dress teamed with chunky black boots on another. It’s official: the slip dress really is the piece of summer 2024.

Michael J Fox's Emotional Appearance

The actor made a surprise pop up on stage with headliners Coldplay showing off his guitar skills for songs 'Humankind' and 'Fix You' Lead singer Chris Martin addressed Fox’s saying, 'The main reason why we’re in a band is because of watching Back to the Future.' The band also brought out U.K. soul singer Laura Mvula, Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna, and Little Simz, who had performed on the same stage just hours before.

Little Simz Proved Her Undisputable Power

The former ELLE UK cover star took to the Pyramid Stage for a formidable performance, rhyming effortlessly through her work. 'I need you to understand that you are witnessing greatness,' she said on stage. 'And I don’t say that with arrogance; I say that with confidence.' No one disagreed. Headline next year, ok?
