Amidst the whirlwind of colour, creativity and innovation that is Milan design week, an intriguing new addition to the scene launched its latest collection. Bentley Home, the furniture arm of the luxury car brand, has been quietly making its mark in recent years with immaculately designed furniture that captures the luxurious craftsmanship of the firm’s automotive heritage.

For 2024, it introduced the first pieces for the home office – an elegant desk and chair – alongside new sofa, bed and chair designs. The six-piece collection was displayed in the Bentley Home Atelier within the historic Palazzo Chiesa in a dramatic, immersive installation inspired by the red sands of Salento in southern Italy, where Bentley Home collaborator Paper Factor is based.

The brand has developed an ingenious way to craft a solid surface material from a compound of micro-paper – effectively an innovative evolution of papier-mâché – which Bentley Home has used on its curvaceous coffee tables.

The new pieces were created in collaboration with designers Carlo Colombo, Federico Peri, and Francesco Forcellini, who share Bentley’s vision of working sustainably with limitless customisation options. Each designer was chosen for their knowledge, imaginative use of sustainable materials, craft and cutting-edge production technology, working closely with the Bentley Motors design team in Crewe.

Francesco Forcellini designed the sleek, ergonomic ‘Wilton’ desk and ‘Bollington’ office armchair which boast clean lines and sinuous curves inspired by automotive design. Federico Peri brought his sophisticated approach to the modular ‘Loftus’ sofa, which can be customised in an almost infinite number of ways – clever details like the double stitching on the cushions reference the famously comfortable seats in a Bentley car. Crafted with sustainable leather, glossy lacquer and a range of timbers, the ‘Chilton’ seating line and the ‘Langport’ bed are the work of Carlo Colombo.

Head of Bentley Design Collaborations, Chris Cooke said, ‘The new collection is a meeting of design minds – all of whom share a commitment to translating and elevating Bentley’s distinctive design DNA – comfort, craft, and elegance into contemporary furniture.’ That combination of Italian design with English craftsmanship and engineering is proving itself to be a winning one, on the road and in the home. luxurylivinggroup.com
