According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two stars have boarded the project along with a whole host of other famous names.

Joining McAvoy and Cumberbatch on the cast are Get Out actor LaKeith Stanfield, Selma star David Oyelowo, RJ Cyler, Titans's Anna Diop, Alfre Woodard, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Jurassic World actor Omar Sy.

The Book of Clarence will tell the story of a man named Clarence, a citizen of Jerusalem who is all out of luck and looking for a way to improve his life.

Deciding he wants a little piece of the new celebrity status that has come about with the influence of the Messiah, Clarence embarks on a journey fuelled by personal gain.

Played by Judas and the Black Messiah's LaKeith Stanfield, Clarence's journey takes an unexpected turn as he explores his own faith.

Samuel will direct the movie which will be based on an original screenplay from the director and production is already underway.

If you thought the list of cast couldn't possibly be longer – you'd be wrong. Joining the above mentioned will be Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin, Coming 2 America's Teyana Taylor, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds star Babs Olusanmokun, Eric Kofi Abrefa, Nicholas Pinnock, and Micheal Ward.

Also joining them are House of the Dragon's Tom Glynn-Carney, Chase Dillon and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, who played Ebony Maw in Avengers: Endgame.
