We do know that John Hamburg, who co-wrote all three previous Meet the Parents films, is set to write the screenplay, with no word yet on who’s directing.

Jane Rosenthal and De Niro are set to produce through Tribeca Productions, along with Jay Roach, who directed the first two films, through Delirious Media.

Stiller and John Lesher will also produce through their Red Hour Films.

Meet the Parents was released in 2000, becoming a huge hit and earning $330 million worldwide.

It saw Stiller as Greg Focker, a nice guy visiting his girlfriend Pam's parents for the first time. De Niro starred as Jack, Pam's father, a retired CIA operative who is very protective of his daughter.

In 2004 came the sequel Meet the Fockers, with Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand playing Greg's parents. The film was another box-office hit, grossing $522 million worldwide.

Little Fockers came in 2010, with Jessica Alba, Laura Dern, Kevin Hart and Harvey Keitel joining the cast.

In 2018, Stiller and De Niro had a Meet the Parents reunion on Saturday Night Live.

The pair recreated the infamous lie detector scene from the first movie, this time with a political spin.

Stiller played then-President Donald Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen, with De Niro playing former FBI director Robert Mueller.
