This Morning's Ben Shepard was left bemused as Josie Gibson's kitchen hacks segment turned into total mayhem during Tuesday's show.

The cheerful presenter, 39, was on a mission to share her clever tips and tricks using everyday household items. However, things didn't quite go according to plan when her eyelash curler beer opener failed to open the bottle, prompting host Ben, 49, to ask: "Can you [open the bottle]?" before showing off his own savvy wedding ring hack.

Our favourite Bristolian lass next demonstrated how to whip up a healthy yogurt snack with a fidget toy, but the end result cracked and crumbled. An unimpressed Ben sampled it, noting that it was "really healthy" thanks to the natural Greek yoghurt ingredient.

Adding to the chaos, Josie's attempt at grinding pepper with a handheld blender ended in a spicy mess scattered across the worktop. Following the unintentionally comedic segment, a laughing and somewhat perplexed Ben quipped: "If you've got any kitchen hacks you can let Josie have, we'd really appreciate it," adding slyly: "Some of them might actually work!"

Viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their opinions on the segment, with one viewer commenting: "Josie giving tips on hacks (that basically don't work)", while another tweeted: "Comedy gold with Josie's hacks that don't work #ThisMorning." Someone else posted: "Omfg! I don't think I'll bother with these hacks #ThisMorning", and another added in disbelief: "I don't even know what to say #ThisMorning.", reports the Mirror.

Amidst this, it's been reported that Loose Women, Good Morning Britain, This Morning, and Lorraine are in the midst of crisis talks due to a significant drop in viewership. The daytime TV favourites could see pay freezes and potential job cuts as ITV chiefs attempt to mitigate the financial blow from the ratings downturn.

Sources suggest that the network may implement drastic cost-cutting measures across its most popular shows, including possibly favouring shorter three-month contracts over longer-term agreements for staff, and reducing freelance workers. The much-anticipated annual ITV summer party, which traditionally sees the channel's biggest stars gather for a festive celebration, is also potentially on the chopping block.

According to insiders, ITV's daytime head Emma Gormley has convened meetings to discuss the situation, where staff from Loose Women, Good Morning Britain, This Morning, and Lorraine were reportedly shown graphs illustrating their sharp fall in viewership. According to The Sun, a source has revealed that ITV is tightening its belt due to the competition from streaming giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime. "ITV is really tightening their belt. There have been concerns for months at the top but now that it's trickled down to the shop floor it feels very depressing. A lot of staff are being put on three-month contracts, probably so they can get rid of people easily."

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
