Fifty Shades of Grey's Jamie Dornan will be returning for a second series of The Tourist.

More than a year after the twisty-turny drama series debuted on BBC One, the channel has confirmed more of The Missing writers Harry and Jack Williams' The Tourist, with the show shifting to Ireland from Australia.

The original season centered around a Northern Irish man waking up in Australia with total amnesia, leading to a cat-and-mouse game with mysterious figures chasing him across Oz.

Easy and Poker Face's Danielle Macdonald will also return as Elliot's (Dornan) newfound friend Helen while they travel to Ireland to rediscover his family history.

Elliot has hopes that looking into his roots will jog his memory, but before long, he's forced to face his demons and dangerous forces from his past.

"I’m incredibly excited to continue the story with The Tourist," Dornan said. "Harry and Jack Williams are brilliant writers, and I can’t wait for audiences to see how well Ireland and it’s characters are utilised to keep them guessing as the tale progresses…"

Macdonald added: "I’m so excited to team up with Jamie again and return for another wild adventure with an amazing cast and crew. Jack and Harry Williams are brilliant story tellers and it’s exciting to see what their minds will come up with next.”

The BBC has confirmed that production will begin in Dublin on six new episodes of The Tourist beginning this April.

"The Tourist was unlike anything we’d written before and we’re hugely grateful for the incredible response to series one," the Williamses wrote.

"It’s been an exciting journey getting stuck into that world again with the quirky characters that were so loved, and seeing where we could take them next, whilst continuing to deliver a tonally unique and off-beat drama.”

The Tourist doesn't yet have a release window from the BBC.
