BBC viewers spot Judi Love's 'awkward' reaction to Lorraine Kelly's BAFTA win
BAFTA TV Awards viewers think they spotted the 'awkward' moment Loose Women's Judi Love reacted to Lorraine Kelly bagging a huge award. The 43 year old ITV panellist, who has been a regular on the lunchtime show since 2020, appeared to roll her eyes when Lorraine was announced as the winner of this year's BAFTA Special Award.
The star-studded event took place at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday night, with Judi and Lorraine, along with other big names from the small screen, in attendance for the glitzy ceremony.
Acting and presenting talents from popular shows like Happy Valley, I'm A Celebrity and Succession were all vying for awards, hoping to take home the coveted statuettes and receive the admiration and congratulations of their peers. However, some fans couldn't help but speculate if there's any tension between ITV stars Judi and Lorraine, as cameras caught Judi's reaction when Lorraine delivered her acceptance speech after stepping on stage.
The award was given to Lorraine in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the television industry, having graced our screens for four decades now. The morning TV host received her award from actor Brian Cox and was met with cheers from the audience full of celebrities.
Signing off from her acceptance speech, Lorraine joyfully stated: "I'm on the telly tomorrow, but I'm going to celebrate tonight. Thank you so much!" The cameras then panned over to Ant and Dec who had wide smiles on their faces and enthusiastically applauded. Anne Reid, star of The Sixth Commandment, was also seen clapping politely, reports the Mirror.
However, when the camera shifted to Judi, she seemed less than thrilled as she appeared to refuse to applaud and rolled her eyes. This caused quite a stir among the awards show audience at home, sparking many humorous comments online.
One user posted: "Judi Love's reaction to Lorraine's award" - accompanied by two 'dead' emojis indicating they found it amusing. Another concurred with this sentiment writing: "I'm with Judi."
Some speculated that Judi's reaction may be tied to Lorraine's recent absence from her show as one viewer quipped: "Judi knows Lorraine not coming back to work this Friday haha."
However, others suggested a touch of resentment, with one person saying: "Why are the #loosewomen so bitter." After the ceremony, Judi expressed her excitement for the nomination via Instagram. Her show, Loose Women, which was also nominated for Best Daytime award beside Lorraine, unfortunately lost to BBC's Scam Interceptors.
Sharing snaps from the red carpet, TV star Judi wrote: "What a beautiful day! It's been a honour to be nominated for best daytime show @bafta I want to thank the amazing production team @loosewomen that are constantly evolving the show and setting the pace for new content, diverse stories and topics that reflect the audience! ! Even more fantastic that the black history month special episode was nominated with @realandypeters @charlenewhite @babatundecomedian."
