Strictly Come Dancing enthusiasts were left feeling 'infuriated' after Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell's recent routine, despite the pair not being at fault. The comedian has been lauded for his dance which included a "poignant" blackout segment, reflecting his personal experience with blindness, during Saturday night's live show (November 9).

Chris, aged 47, and his 36 year old dance partner Dianne Buswell concluded the eighth week's live show with their couple's choice to John Lennon's Instant Karma! (We All Shine On). As the dance neared its end, Chris was seen covering Dianne's eyes just before the room went dark; when the lights returned, he was spinning with Buswell on his shoulders amidst a burst of pyrotechnics.

The act garnered thunderous applause from the audience and a score of 33 out of 40 from judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, and Anton Du Beke. Craig described the "poignant blackout moment" as "absolutely spectacular" while head judge Shirley, visibly moved, praised Chris, saying: "You come out every week with your heart on your sleeve, and you give us 100%."

Despite the acclaim on social media for Chris and Dianne's performance, some fans expressed their discontent, calling for the judges to award a higher score to the duo, reports the Manchester Evening News. On social media, @katbrown remarked: "Chris and Dianne broke the cardinal rule of Couple's Choice tropes which is that you must be barefoot for EMOTION and chance to grab points. Instead, here they are having an absolute ball – and making an entire audience happy, just as they have done all series. #Strictly."

Meanwhile, @meganchloa expressed her disbelief: "SEVEN? ? ? ? ? ? ? I'm sorry but wtaf? ! He is BLIND! Even if he could see, that dance deserved a LOT more than 7! I am speechless #strictly #StrictlyComeDancing." @Carlee3091 couldn't hide her frustration: "Wtf! ! ! ! How can they give those comments and then those scores! ! A 7 Craig? ? ! What the fuck! ? This programme is INFURIATING! ! " @themaskedfanartist was baffled by the scoring: "How Craig only scored 7 for this is beyond me. I NEED CHRIS TO GET A 10 PLZ JUDGES ITS NOT HARD."

@leoni. widdows said: "Under marked! Under appreciated! That was a moment for the strictly history books! That was beyond anything I think anyone could imagine and the fact we got to see his emotional side as well even though each week he has to have that extra courage and bravery than the rest of them , just shows the man he is and Diane , by far the best strictly pro to grace that dance floor , she is absolutely incredible. Dream team."

@queenrachbadger added: "Why were there no 10's? They get under marked every week! Anton saying he made a mistake so couldn't have a 10- total rubbish, and as for a 7....! ! ! It was A... mazing! ! My Winners." Meanwhile, @nosyerin chimed in with criticism about the scoring, tweeting: "Horrifically undermarked! they didn't do a 'sob story' and were penalised for it! These two are absolutely AMAZING! Keep it up, I love you both."
