BBC The One Show chaos as Alex Jones left speechless over David Walliams 'joke'
Things took an awkward turn during the latest edition of The One Show as guest David Walliams made a joke regarding Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
David appeared on the popular evening show alongside his Little Britain co-star Matt Lucas and former EastEnders actress Lindsey Coulson.
As presenters Alex Jones and Clara Amfo quizzed the TV icons on their current pursuits, the conversation about school became prevalent as Lindsey shared her thoughts on her new role in school drama Waterloo Road.
But this led David to later interject and share that he previously attended the same school as Keir when they were both a lot younger.

He said: "I was at school with Keir Starmer, yeah. And he gave me a detention and it was Christmas time and it was really cold and he turned off the heating."
After hearing the quip, host Alex appeared rather stunned and wasn't sure what to say next.
Giggling, David added: "I did go to the same school as Keir Starmer, but actually, we didn't meet each other."
After a brief silence, David mentioned another famous face and said: "And Fatboy Slim was there too. Yeah, he was yeah!
"He was doing the DJing and Keir was being the Prime Minister, I was acting the giddy goat!"
Trying to move on swiftly, Alex then turned the conversation to Lindsey and said: "We are going to talk about EastEnders as well because it's 40 years of EastEnders."
But fans who noticed the uneasiness on screen headed straight over to social media site X to share their thoughts.
One viewer wrote: "Loved David’s dig at Keir Starmer. He’s clearly far too outspoken for the BBC. He’s probably next to be cancelled."
Another said: "Watching the presenters on #TheOneShow totally not getting @davidwalliams make a joke about going to school with Kier Starmer and giving them a detention and turning the heating off. Don’t know which was funnier."
A third chimed in and wrote: "That was pure chaos lol."
David's joke refers to the labour government's decision to cut winter fuel payments from most pensioners.
Last year, as winter hit the UK, Keir continued to support his tough decision and said that the Labour government was "going to have to be unpopular" due to the previous failings the last government had made.
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One
