BBC launches psychological thriller set in stunning Welsh town
The BBC will launch a brand new psychological thriller next week which was filmed in south Wales, following the hunt for a murderer in a small town.
The One That Got Away stars Welsh actors Elen Rhys, known for her role in The Mallorca Files, as DI Ffion Lloyd, and Richard Harrington from Y Gwyll as DS Rick Sheldon. Ffion and Rick are former lovers who have to team up to find the killer of a nurse in a Welsh seaside town.
Their investigations are made more difficult due to their complex past, as well as the effects of the murder on the community. The killing has eerie echoes of a case from over a decade ago, which leads to the detectives casting doubt on a historic conviction, while also wondering whether there's a copycat killer on the loose.

The show was written by Catherine Tregenna, who has previously written episodes of the show Law & Order UK, as well as Doctor Who and its spin-off series Torchwood.
Elen, who is originally from Aberystwyth, said she enjoyed returning to Wales to film the show: "Coming home to Wales to film was a joy—immersing myself in everything Welsh. The talented, close-knit crew worked together so well, making it a truly lovely and extraordinary experience. I felt so lucky.
"Catherine Tregenna's writing blew me away. It's not your typical crime drama; it goes much deeper. I love that there are no heroes, the characters are complex, damaged, and human; everyone is as flawed as the next. It's so true to life. To me, it’s a drama about what it means to be human."
Nick Andrews, Head of Commissioning for BBC Cymru Wales, added: “The One That Got Away is a knotty, twisty-turny, edge-of-your-seat thriller interwoven with an electrifying love story, featuring a fantastic Welsh cast. BBC Cymru Wales is so pleased to be able to offer this excellent Cymru Noir to our audiences. You’ll be gripped and quivering all at once – nail-biting stuff.”
The One That Got Away was filmed on location in south Wales, with filming locations including Pembroke Dock. It's an English language version of Welsh-language drama Cleddau, an original series that was made for S4C and will be made up of six one-hour long episodes.
Also joining the cast are Rhian Blythe, known for her role in Gwaith/Cartref, Sule Rimi from Day of the Jackal, and Ian Puleston-Davies who is best known for his stint in Coronation Street.
The first episode of The One That Got Away will air on BBC One Wales at 9:10pm, on February 25, with all episodes available to stream on iPlayer
