BBC EastEnders bids farewell to Walford resident in sad exit as familiar face returns

BBC EastEnders aired a heart-wrenching exit on Thursday night, as Walford residents said their goodbyes to a beloved character as she prepared to jet off for a new life overseas.

Jade Masood, played by Elizabeth Green, made her final departure from Walford in the latest episode of the BBC soap, following a dramatic confrontation with her villainous father Dean Wicks. As regular viewers will know, Dean is currently being detained in custody after being falsely arrested for Keanu Taylor's murder.

Yet despite his innocence in that crime, viewers do know he is guilty of tampering with Jade's transplant medication in an attempt to stop her being well enough to return to her mum in Pakistan. After cleverly coaxing him into confessing to his meddling with her medication to prevent her from leaving, the devastated teenager declared they were finished for good.

In intense scenes, she lashed out at her dad and told him to rot in hell, firmly believing that he was responsible for Keanu Taylor's death despite his denials. Fans know that Dean, a convicted rapist, has been framed by the real killer, Linda Carter and The Six, with evidence seemingly pointing to his guilt.

Fully aware of Dean's manipulative actions over the past few months, Jade questioned what else he could be capable of. Once he confessed to tampering with her medication and causing her illness, then blaming it on Jean Slater, Jade didn't hold back in expressing her true feelings towards him.

Following this, she spent time with Jean and others at The Vic, knowing she would soon be embarking on a new life. After expressing her gratitude to Jean, she also had a conversation with Linda, questioning her about whether she believed her father was a murderer, reports the Mirror.

Linda was understandably uncomfortable with this, considering she had framed Dean. Jade then expressed her hope to Linda for closure, referencing the traumatic event in 2014 when Dean raped Linda and escaped justice, something that up until now she had been reluctant to acknowledge.

Subsequently, Jade bid farewell and left Walford permanently. In her final scenes, Jean, Harvey Monroe and others gathered outside the house, as she said her goodbyes before Harvey drove her out of Walford for the airport.

Interestingly however, Jade's departure also coincided with the return of fan favourite Bernadette Taylor. Just before she left, Jade shared a poignant moment with Keanu's sister who made her return during these scenes.

Bernie had previously left for Spain to inform their mother Karen Taylor and the rest of the family about Keanu's death. Upon returning, Bernie and Jade shared a tender moment, with Jade feeling remorse over her father allegedly being responsible for the death of Bernie's brother.

EastEnders continues Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
