The Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain is set to return to the BBC with an all-new cooking show.

The broadcaster has confirmed the TV chef will appear in Nadiya’s Cook Once, Eat Twice, which will air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer later this year.

The new programme sees Nadiya strive to "make your ingredients stretch further" by sharing recipes that are quick, simple to rustle up, and result in less food waste.

"Cook Once, Eat Twice really taps into the way I learnt to cook growing up," said Nadiya. "Nothing ever went to waste but we always had vibrant, wonderful food on the table.

"I love the challenge of creating a meal out of food scraps or giving our leftovers a new lease of life. It’s so much fun and it makes me feel good about the food I feed my family."

Nadiya's new show will comprise of six episodes running for 30 minutes, where viewers can expect recipes of "batch-friendly bakes and treats to eat now and freeze/store for later".

In addition to Nadiya's recipes, the show will introduce viewers to other resourceful cooks and chefs who are similarly pushing the no-food-waste trend by repurposing leftovers and food scraps into hearty meals.

"We’re thrilled to welcome Nadiya back for more delicious recipes that this time put her own unique spin on reducing food waste," said BBC commissioning editor Patrick McMahon.

"We can’t wait to see what helpful hacks she has to help stretch our ingredients and save time in the kitchen, while packing every mouthful with flavour.”

Nadiya won the sixth season of The Great British Bake Off back in 2015, when the show aired on BBC featuring former judge Mary Berry.

Since her win, she has hosted a number of cooking shows for the broadcaster including Nadiya's Simple Spices and The Chronicles of Nadiya, and has released over 10 cookbooks.

The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.
