Bargain Hunt team's one-word response as Roo Irvine uncovers jaw-dropping item

The Bargain Hunt team were absolutely gobsmacked when Roo Irvine revealed a stunning find, leaving everyone speechless.

The tension was palpable as the red team, guided by Roo, managed to narrowly escape a significant loss with her surprise purchase that had them utterly lost for words. BBC's antiques expert Roo Irvine, 42, had £160 in her pocket to secure Marian and Sasha a wildcard item.

The duo had a rocky start, facing losses on their initial purchases. Their investment in a 1930s German clock for £81 only recouped £61, while their art-deco brooches, bought for £31, fetched a mere £25 at auction.

However, their fortunes turned with a violin they snapped up for £28, which brought in an additional £12, reducing their overall loss to just minus £14. Sensing the pair's penchant for art, Roo opted for a striking large vase adorned with an attractive red pattern.

Roo wagered £35 on the vase, hoping it would fetch at least £55. Sasha and Marian were instantly smitten, their jaws hitting the floor, reports the Express. A hush fell over the room before they could be heard exclaiming in awe, "wow".

Overjoyed with their response, Roo watched as Sasha echoed Marian's enthusiasm: "Wow. Oh my gosh. It is really nice. No I really like it. Oh wow." Sasha, captivated by the hefty glazed ceramic piece, couldn't help but admire it: "It is just beautiful isn't it. I really love it. Thank you so much."

The presenter was absolutely thrilled, her smile lighting up the room as she shared the guests' excitement over her savvy purchase. Roo had snagged the item for a mere £35 and optimistically hoped it would fetch between £55 to £60, saying: "I would like it to go for £55 or to £60."

But Eric Knowles, who was at the helm of the show, wasn't quite convinced by Roo's high hopes. He chatted with the auctioneer, who suggested that Roo might be setting her sights too high, doubting it would exceed £25.

And as the auction unfolded, it seemed Eric's reservations were justified. The item struggled to find buyers, but eventually sold for £25 after some encouragement. Yet, Roo's day wasn't dampened in the slightest as she led her team, the reds, to a triumphant victory, leaving the blues trailing with a loss of minus £39.

Despite not clinching the win, the blue team provided plenty of entertainment, especially Caroline Hawley with her unusual mystery buy. She left everyone in stitches when she unveiled a "Yorkshire dump" a term for a hefty paperweight or doorstop, prompting Tony and Phil to erupt into laughter.
