Barclays customers to get £2,000 if they make this one change to their home
Homeowners who have a mortgage with Barclays can get a one-time payment of £2,000 if they make a single change in their homes.
The UK bank is offering customers the cash if they make a green upgrade in their property - which would include getting a heat pump installed.
The money will not be classed as a loan or it will not be put down that you have borrowed cash from Barclays. To be eligible for the Greener Home Reward you simply have to have a mortgage with the company. If you meet the criteria, the bank will provide you with the cash to complete the home improvement.

There are other home improvements that many customers will also be eligible under the Greener Home Reward scheme, but the highest amount is for the installation of a heat pump.
At present, conventional boilers are less expensive to buy and run than heat pump, however they are significantly less efficient. Heat pumps can be cheaper to run, so customers who switch could potentially save hundreds of pounds per year on their energy bills, according to the Express.
The pumps work by capturing heat from the air, ground or water and then passing this through a heat exchanger, where energy is then transferred to the water that flows through your radiators or underfloor heating, and to the water stored in hot water cylinders.
Barclays says that customers can only receive one Greener Home Reward - or one between you if you have a joint mortgage - and it must be for the residential property where you live permanently to be eligible. A second reward cannot be claimed for any additional properties or home improvements.
The £2,000 reward is available to those who make ‘low-carbon heating’ home improvements, which includes the installation of an air source heat pump, a biomass pellet boiler or a ground source heat pump.
Barclays said: “Climate change is an urgent and complex challenge for all of us, and we’re determined to play our part in helping the planet through our ambition to become a net zero bank. We want to help you too, by rewarding you for making eligible home improvements with our Greener Home Reward.”
To be eligible for the £2,000 reward you must meet all of the following requirements:
Have an eligible residential mortgage with Barclays
Have a Direct Debit for your mortgage payments
Not be in breach of your mortgage conditions or have permission to let
All your payments need to be up to date
Make sure you haven’t claimed the reward before
Proof of payments or work to be dated within three months of your claim
Barclays adds: “The cost to you for the work, excluding any third-party contributions - such as a government grant - as shown on the invoice needs to be equal to or more than the value of the Greener Home Reward for the completed home improvement.
“Before getting your home improvements done, if you have a residential mortgage with us, we’re offering a Home Health Check, in partnership with British Gas. For £50, we can:
Give you an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating, which looks at how much energy your home is using
Suggest ways you can potentially save on energy and costs
Talk to you about your home and energy habits, and answer any questions you might have.”
