Bang & Olufsen and Riva Team Up for a New Line of Yacht-Inspired Speakers

Bang & Olufsen and Riva are bringing premium sound to the high seas.

The Danish sound specialists and the Italian yacht maker have joined forces to create a line of portable speakers for seafarers on the go. “It is a partnership that sounds great,” Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi said in a statement. “A taste for ‘mixing’ elegance and innovation is the shared value that will guide product design and production.”

The two new speakers showcase the craftsmanship, performance, and high design synonymous with both companies, combining Bang & Olufsen’s engineering and aesthetics with Riva’s beauty and style.

Founded by Pietro Riva in 1842, Riva grew to prominence in the 1960s for its glamorous mahogany runabouts. The Riva Aquarama that was launched in ‘62 is considered the world’s most iconic powerboat, in fact. Similarly, Bang & Olufsen, established by Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen in 1925, has been at the forefront of acoustic innovation for almost a century and has developed a luxury lineup that artfully balances form with function. “Together, we are bringing the best of artisanship to the fore by creating two remarkable products,” adds Bang & Olufsen’s CEO Kristian Teär.

Bang & Olufsen and Riva will reveal the speakers during the boat shows in September but have shared two teaser images ahead of the official debut. The two products appear to be a co-branded Beosound A5 (pictured top) and a Beosound 2.

The Beosound A5 is a versatile Bluetooth speaker with a long-lasting battery that enables up to 12 hours of play time. It has a two-way setup and four drivers, including the most powerful woofer in B&O’s portable speaker lineup, ensuring fully immersive audio. One iteration of the speaker has a refined exterior that combines aluminum and oak. Perhaps the oak will be swapped for mahogany for the Riva collab.

The Beosound 2 delivers powerful 360-degree sound that fills any space in the home, according to B&O. It is crafted from a high-grade aluminum that provides superior acoustic properties, with the material’s stiffness and seamless surfaces eliminating any distortion of your sound. It should blast out some nice tunes on the sundeck, then.

Riva isn’t the only Italian powerhouse Bang & Olufsen has teamed up with. Last August, B&O unveiled a line of headphones and speakers with Ferrari. It appears the Danes and Italians have established a perfect harmony.
