Balmain unveils The Harder They Fall-inspired capsule collection

Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing has unveiled a capsule collection inspired by new film The Harder They Fall.

Jeymes Samuel's movie, which follows Nat Love (Jonathan Majors) as he reassembles his former gang to seek revenge against the man who murdered his parents, is one of very few Westerns whose principal cast members are all African-American.

To mark the release of the film, which is to begin streaming on Netflix from 3 November, Rousteing has created a limited-edition luxury clothing and accessory capsule collection that is influenced by the themes and characters in the project.

"Today, we continue (founder) Pierre Balmain's distinctive legacy of always pushing boundaries," the fashion designer commented. "My team and I know that fashion - even from a historic Parisian couture house like Balmain - is only made more relevant when it becomes more accessible via an integration with today's most compelling stories and music."

The range includes fringed jackets, denim jackets and jeans, oversized suiting, and stylish coordinated looks, with the colour palette based around desert oranges, browns, and blues.

And Samuel is thrilled with the final result.

"For me, partnering with Balmain was a natural fit. It's the same way that every aspect of this movie was assembled, with instinct and a belief in the people positioned in their respective roles. Both on and off the catwalk, Olivier Rousteing has ensured that the Balmain brand represents a strength and unity that gives equality to all irrespective of race, gender, or anything else," he added.

The Balmain x The Harder They Fall line will be available to purchase from Farfetch.com, the Netflix shop, as well as in select Balmain boutiques.
