Bakery Patron Makes Remarkable Discovery That Owner Is His Long-Lost Mother

“It's been a great experience. It further strengthens my faith," Vamarr Hunter said after meeting his mother Lenore Lindsey

A Chicago man recently received the surprise of a lifetime upon learning that the local bakery he frequented was owned by his woman who put him up for adoption as a baby.

Vamarr Hunter, 50, of South Shore, discovered at 35 that he was adopted and was curious to meet his birth mother. But he never would've imagined she was the woman whose bakery he had been a customer of for years, according to local ABC affiliate ABC 7 Chicago.

After submitting for genetic testing, Hunter was informed that his mother was Lenore Lindsay, 67, who owned the Give Me Some Sugah bakery and resided in the same South Shore neighborhood as the son she placed for adoption when she was 17 years old.

Upon realizing his dream of finding and connecting with his mother, Hunter told the outlet that, “It's been a great experience. It further strengthens my faith.”

He noted that his focus is now enjoying the time that he and his mother now have together as family – and business partners, as he now works with Lindsey at the bakery and even stepped in to run things when she was in the midst of health issues.

“You can't make up for time and days gone by. What you can do is properly utilize the time that you have,” he said.

Lindsey believes that it was the power of God that brought mother and son together after decades apart, despite living within close proximity the entire time, and that she is extremely happy to have found her son. “When I called him, that connection was so immediate. I can't even explain it. It was just like everything in my heart just broke open,” she said.

“It's the most joyful story and time in my life," Lindsey told the outlet. "In my senior years, all of this has come together.”
