Baby Reindeer star Richard Gadd is a secret millionaire with another name
Richard Gadd, the creator and star of Netflix's hit show Baby Reindeer, is reportedly a secret millionaire.
The chilling drama series, which is currently the most-watched show on the streaming platform in over thirty countries, tells a harrowing story of how a simple act of kindness turned into a dangerous obsession.
In the series, Richard plays Donny, a character based on his own traumatic experiences of being relentlessly stalked by a woman named Martha Scott (portrayed by Jessica Gunning).
In reality, Gadd's stalker sent him more than 41,000 emails, left voicemails totalling 350 hours, sent dozens of social media messages, and wrote 106 pages of letters over a three-year period.
Fans of the stalking drama thought the Scottish comedian had become an overnight success after spending years on the stand-up comedy circuit.
But according to The Sun, accounts show the Scottish performer has already earned his first million. His personal firm, RRSG Ltd, has over £1 million in assets, which includes £819,959 “cash in the bank”.
The 34-year-old also had a successful 2023, as his profits reportedly more than quadrupled from the previous year. The company is now £836,233 in profit, compared to £178,344 in 2022.
Baby Reindeer began as a comedy show in 2019 but it was picked up by Netflix in 2023 when the show was catapulted to worldwide fame - also increasing Gadd's finances.
But the publication also reported a mysterious twist as Companies House records also show Richard is registered under a second name, Dr Robert Stephenson, but there isn't information to support him changing his name.
Richard is a Scottish writer, actor and comedian that was born on 11 May 1989 in the village of Wormit, Fife. After developing a love of performing at an early age, he began to hone his skills at the Oxford School of Drama, where he graduated in 2012.
Richard began to work on the Scottish comedy circuit, with performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival receiving widespread critical acclaim.
Among his most popular accolades are show Monkey See Monkey Do, which won the Edinburgh Comedy Award back in 2016 for the Best Comedy Show at the Fringe.
In addition, he also picked up a Chortle Comedian’s Comedy Award before the show was broadcast on Comedy Central around the UK.
Richard is also a talented actor who has appeared in the BAFTA-nominated BBC2 single drama Against the Law. He has also worked as a correspondent for Channel 4’s panel show: The Last Leg.
Prior to Netflix picking up Baby Reindeer, the show was successfully performed on stage at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and picked up a number of awards from fans and critics alike, who were captivated by the dark tragedy of his own experience as a victim of stalking.
Baby Reindeer is available to stream now on Netflix.
