There have always been spelling differences between popular baby names. "Abby" or "Abbie"? "Marc" or "Mark"? Kids may rival in the playground against their same-name-different-spelling counterparts, arguing over whether the name "Rachael" really needs that unnecessary "a".

But one TikToker has compiled a list of "uniquely" spelled names registered in 2024 that may have your eyes bulging out of your head. Luke Colson, user Luke.Is.Alive_ on TikTok, dumfounded his followers with the wildest spellings of common names most of us will have ever seen, alongside some names we will have never even heard of.

"I've now compiled a list of all the most hilarious spellings of baby names where you really have to f***ing think to figure out what the baby's called," exclaimed the TikToker.

"And these are all real names."

Some of these names even use Roman numerals, making them almost impossible to decipher. Here are some of the names he found.

CVIIILYN

Can you tell which common name "CVIIILYN" serves as an alternate spelling of? Unless someone tells you, it's impossible to read this name as "Caitlyn".

The "VIII" in the middle of the word is the number "eight" in Roman numerals, making the pronunciation of the name "C-VIII-LYN". Not confusing at all, is it?

NVIII

Following this same rule of unorthodox spelling, this name should be pronounced as "Nate".

These new spellings are sure to puzzle babies' future teachers when they come up on the school register.

Brittynny

You may have friends or peers with alternate spellings of this name, like "Britney" (as in Spears), "Brittany" (as in the region in France) or even "Britani".

But it's unlikely you've ever come across this unnecessarily confusing spelling of the name.

La-a

You may be trying to take a wild guess at this one's pronunciation. "Lah ah"? "Leah?". Not even close.

This name is pronounced as "Ladasha", as in "La-dash-a". With new names like these, it's clear the new parents of 2024 are getting creative.

Areigha

The pronunciation of this name, explains the TikToker, became clear when he saw the baby's registered middle name was "Sunshine".

"Areigha Sunshine". You can see what they were getting at.

Abcde

While this name appears to be someone practicing the alphabet, it's pronounced as "Absiddy".

Another real name that was registered last year, according to the TikToker.

Tekeela

Pronounced "tequila". We can only assume their parents enjoy a margarita.

Another name from the list that felt drinks-inspired was "Maliboo".

Thiiphynniegh

Yet another name almost impossible to wrap your head around.

Forget "Tiffany", or "Tifanie", there's a new and original spelling of this common name on the block.

TyX

Not pronounced "Tix" or "Tikes", this name follows the Roman numeral trend, being pronounced "Ti-ten" or "Titan".

.e

This "name", explained Colson, was rejected from the register. It was supposed to be pronounced "Dottie".

Another trend in these new names appears to be adding punctuation into the spelling (such as "La-a").

If you come across anyone with these wildly unique names in years to come (all except ".e", of course), it's likely they were born in 2024.
