Ayo Edebiri’s 2025 Golden Globes look is an homage to Julia Roberts
Please take a break from arguing with your loved ones about whether or not The Bear is a comedy or a drama, and turn your attention to the series' star, Ayo Edebiri’s 2025 Golden Globes look. Warning: this might be her most talked about red carpet look yet, and that is a high bar to clear!
Amongst the feathered frocks (hi, Keira Knightley), archival designer moments (looking at you, Anya Taylor-Joy) and just general show-stopping looks (okay Zendaya *and* Miley Cyrus), Ayo showed up and showed out in a chic Loewe suit, styled by Danielle Goldberg. Opting for full-on menswear, Ayo layered the grey blazer over a coordinating shirt, accessorising with a gold tie that resembled a feather. Her tailored grey trousers did feature some feminine detailing, with a gathered asymmetric waist adding soft pleats and shaping. Smart black brogues finished the look.
The entire look is a beautiful nod to Julia Roberts’ 1990 Golden Globes suit, which we have not stopped thinking about at Cosmopolitan:
A 23-year-old Julia attended the '90s awards ceremony in the Armani design, with the look quickly going on to become an iconic look after she won for her part in Steel Magnolias.
In a further repeat of history, Ayo also received a nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Comedy, for her role in The Bear, though sadly lost out to Hacks' Jean Smart. She did however scoop the prize last year, saying in her speech, “There’s so many people who I probably forgot to thank—oh my god! Oh my god! All of my agent and managers’ assistants! The people who answer my emails! Y’all are real ones! Thank you for answering my crazy, crazy emails.”
That part, a million times.
