Since designers such as Chanel and Bottega Veneta had models strutting the AW runways in luxury rain boots, welly brands have upped their game in recent years and have moved on from classic garden green. Hunter, Merry People, Joules and Le Chameau have a full spectrum of beautiful city-chic colours. From dusty pink to silvery grey, modern wellies look so elegant, you won’t want to save them just for dog walking or gardening.
If you’re only going to invest in one pair of wellies, make it good pair. I love Scandi brands such as Treton (Swedish) and Ilse Jacobsen (Danish) as they feel so elevated. I absolutely love my long black Ilse Jacobsen lace-up rubber wellington boots, and they look incredibly chic. So much so, my friends made fun of me when we went to an outdoor concert (in the rain) “trust Amanda to have the coolest looking wellies”. But whatever welly brand you choose, when winter hits, I recommend sheepskin shoe liners to keep your toes toasty warm.
