Ask Amanda: Stylish gifts
Q. Any ideas on a Christmas gift for my stylish sister? She always looks fashionable and I have no idea what to buy her. Shannon, 47
Ahhhh, the ‘fashion’ friend or family member – the worst of the lot! Yes, we all know someone – and I’m probably that person in my friendship group – who’s particularly picky and a bit of a nightmare to buy for. So, here are a few ideas that I promise won’t be re-gifted!
If you can’t quite stretch to a designer bag, a Chanel nail varnish is always a wonderful treat. My favourite shade is Rouge Noir - a colour that always looks so chic. Or Boden, Anthropologie and Hush have some fun, colour-clashing PJs – it’s the item of clothing we wear everyday but never seem to buy for ourselves!
For an extra luxe gift, you can’t go wrong with blissfully soft cashmere or a piece of arty jewellery from fashion editor-favourite, Completedworks. I also love the colour-block Papier diaries that you can personalise, but if in doubt, Oliver Bonas has a wonderful selection of gifts with a side of quirkiness.
