Ashley Tisdale's Debut Being Frenshe Hair Care Was Inspired by Her Desire to Give Her Hair 'More Love' (Exclusive)
Tisdale was diagnosed with alopecia in her 20s, and she tells PEOPLE that it made her "stop in her tracks" and rethink her haircare routine
Ashley Tisdale tapped into her own hair journey to create her latest collection.
The High School Musical alum and mom of two launched the Being Frenshe hair wellness collection on Jan. 8 as an expansion to her Frenshe brand. Tisdale, 39, tells PEOPLE exclusively that hair has always been a "big, big thing" for her after she was diagnosed with alopecia in her 20s, so it felt right to focus on a collection that was gentle and showed lots of love to your scalp and strands.
"I'd had such a journey with my hair and hair health," Tisdale shares at an event in New York City to celebrate the launch. "[The alopecia diagnosis] really made me stop in my tracks and rethink everything that I would do to my hair. I realized less is more and I needed to give more love to my hair and less stress."
The result is a clean lineup with three collections within. The three collections are Moisture, Restore and Clarify, and Tisdale says the intention is to "embrace your natural texture and give your hair a moment."
The Moisture collection — which has Shampoo, Conditioner, Dry Shampoo, Hair Oil and an All-in-One Moisture Cream — aims to help hydrate your strands and scalp. Tisdale scented the products with one of the top scents from her Being Frenshe bodycare, Cashmere Vanilla.

Next up, the Restore collection — which has Shampoo, Conditioner and Hair Mask — is a great before-bed routine to rejuvenate your hair and scalp. It's scented with another top aroma from Being Frenshe: Lavender Cloud.
And last but not least, the Clarify collection — which has Clarifying Shampoo, Scalp Serum and Scalp Scrub — is all about showing love to your scalp and sloughing off the day. For this one's fragrance, Tisdale created a new scent, Salty.
"There are so many products out there that help you achieve more volume and all these things. We're always asking our hair to do certain things. I want us to just let it be. It's not until we start having hair thinning that we're like, 'What do I do?' So let's start now and give love to our hair," Tisdale says.
Giving love to her hair wasn't always something that Tisdale did, she admits. She used to bleach it — quite often — but she has scaled back on what she's willing to put her strands through since her alopecia diagnosis. In fact, she hasn't been bright blonde in years, because if she can help minimize her hair loss, she will.

"I love to color my hair, and I will always go a little blonder or darker, but the alopecia was a defining moment for me," she says. "There's not really a treatment, so there are flare-ups. Right now I love where my hair is. It's taken a lot of time to grow it out and not have to wear extensions."
Customers will find 12 products in the collection, exclusively at Target, with prices ranging from $12.99 to $14.99.
Target is also where customers can find Tisdale's other Being Frenshe bodycare products.
