Artist's ceramics to be show this month
Apr. 3—IRONTON — Ohio University Southern's Art Gallery will host a free opening reception for ceramic artist Eric Pardue at 5 p.m. Thursday at the gallery in Dingus Technology Center.
A Milton, West Virginia-based artist, Pardue brings a unique approach to ceramic work.
"In my current ceramic work, I am combining layers of underglaze, slips, glazes and decals of images that I come into contact with during my daily activities into a narrative," he said. "Although the references I make are personal and come from my experiences, I do intend for the viewer to build on my intentions with their own ideas and to develop their own story as they interact with the piece."
Pardue completed a bachelor of fine arts degree from Alfred University in Alfred, New York. He further honed his skills during a residency at Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts in Maine and an apprenticeship with New York-based ceramic artist Jeff Shapiro.
Pardue operates his studio where he delves into various ideas in clay, currently focusing on low fire earthenware with applied imagery.
The exhibit will remain open through April 25.
