Ariel Winter Hits Back At Body Shamers Who Say She Should Hide Her Breast Reduction Scars

Posing happily for photographers at last week’s SAG awards, Ariel Winter looked every inch the Hollywood starlet. In her stunning, strapless Romona Kaveza gown, the Modern Family star oozed body confidence. So much so that she purposely chose a dress that wouldn’t hide the scars of her recent breast reduction surgery.
Of course, some Twitter twerps seemed find the tiny scars somewhat offensive, claiming she should be burying them under swathes of fabric instead of ‘flaunting’ them! But Ariel wasn’t about to sit by and let the haters burst her body-confidence bubble.
Taking to Twitter to defend herself, the 18-year-old explained she wasn’t trying to hide her scars because she’s not ashamed of them.
“Guys there is a reason I didn’t make an effort to cover up my scars! They are part of me and I’m not ashamed of them at all.” She wrote.
“Thank you all so much for the support, kind words, and happy birthdays!”

The actress, who plays Alex Dunphy in the award-winning ABC sitcom, undertook breast reduction surgery last June to reduce her bust from a 32F to a 34D.
The end of the body-shaming story? Hell, no! If Ariel can be proud of her body, scars and all, she wants everyone else to feel the body love. So, continuing her self-love message she hit up Instagram on Tuesday with a body-positive quote from fashion designer Marc Jacobs.
“Embrace all that you are…Scars & everything. Your imperfections make you perfectly you #loveyourself.”

It’s not the first time Ariel has taken on the body-shamers having faced criticism for a photo she Instagrammed of herself and her nieces in swimsuits in November. And online bullying also played a role in her decision to get her breasts reduced in the first place.
But clearly she isn’t going to let a few online haters dent her confidence. Ariel we salute you!
