Ariana Grande Swaps Our Her Platforms For Fashion's Favourite New Shoe
Ariana Grande is a musician (and now movie star) who quickly established a strong sense of personal style through a wardrobe that has long been recognisable. Since she started walking red carpets and strutting on stage, certain fashion pieces have become so much her go-to that they're now distinctly her. There's the oversized hoodies, the extra-long length ponytails and, of course, the sky-high platforms. And yet change, it seems, is afoot.
The Glinda-fication of Grande has seen the 31-year-old permanently change her hair colour to her Wicked character's blonde and adopt an entirely all-pink wardrobe more or less ever since the cast announcement broke. But in a move that points towards a further sartorial shift, the star has swapped out the heels that boosted her diminutive five foot frame for fashion's must-have shoe of the season.
Posting to her Instagram, Grande shared a serious of dream-like portraits where she wears a pair of shoes that point to a new preference that pulls her inline with the fashion pack who have also fallen for the unassuming appeal of a delicate white kitten heel sandal. Like those spotted on the front row, Grande's also fit the vogue for shoes that take on a cage-like detailing to offer a twist on the otherwise perfectly polite shoe. They have an edge in the detail, as well as in the almost defiantly low heel that sits just outside of that 'wrong shoe' theory in the best way.
Grande's shoes are from Khaite's SS25 collection, which debuted on the New York Fashion Week schedule a few short weeks ago. As is her dress, which continued her unbroken run of all-pink outfits. What a thrill it must have been for her stylist to spot this look on the catwalk, working to her client's unwavering commitment to the role.
For those looking to emulate Grande, the good news is that you don't need to wait for the exact pair to enter stores next summer. From Prada to COS, there are already plenty of white cage-style kitten heels to get acquainted with. Wearing them for winter works when you pair them with grey knit socks or contrast floral tights. A flash of brilliant white also works particularly well under a denim jean or even as a point of interest amongst an all-black outfit. Just mind those puddles!
