Apple set to launch new life-changing health gadget to correct bad posture
Apple is believed to be creating a device to help with slouching according to Health news who have discovered a patent application that reveals the tech giant is developing a new head-mounted device.
The HMD device is believed to be fitted with a posture monitoring and correction system amid growing health concerns of sedentary lifestyles and prolonged smartphone use which is contributing to increased back and neck pain problems.
Experts have warned that being in a slouched position can also cause other unexpected health problems such as urine incontinence, constipation and heartburn.

Health News claims that a wide range of posture-correcting devices are currently available on the market whether it being smart glasses or VR headsets, which are commonly used in gaming or a device aimed at a more medical function.
HMD devices can be used to perform a wide range of functions in medicine and even aviation by tracking movement and immersing users in virtual realities, however many of them lack solid evidence of their effectiveness.
Beside the usual functions of this type of gadget, Apple's new product is expected to also include a posture detection system based on sensors that detect the position or orientation of the HDM and other body parts of the user.
This system could track the user's posture in both movement and static position. For example, if a particular posture has been maintained for a prolonged period, the device could send a notification to make adjustments and instructions on how to do it.
The patent document outlines several methods to encourage users to move. For instance, a visual element shifting to one side of the user interface could signal the direction they should move in.
Alternatively, the system could restrict access to certain apps or programmes until the suggested action is carried out. The device could also potentially ease eye strain by tracking the user's vision or gaze.

After focusing on close objects for a certain duration, the HDM could prompt the user to look at a distant object, whether real or virtual. However, the final Apple product may differ from the one detailed in the patent application, and it could be a while before it hits the market.
Regardless, with the continuing unveiling evidence of the health problems associated with poor posture, there's a need for new products that monitor and correct it. Apple CEO Tim Cook has repeatedly voiced his hope that healthcare will be the company's most significant contribution to the world.
Since the launch of the Apple Health app in 2014, the tech behemoth has rolled out a range of healthcare products. The new AirPods Pro 2 has received FDA approval as the first over-the-counter hearing aid software device, while the Apple Watch 10 could potentially detect sleep apnea.
In addition to this, Apple has snapped up several healthcare companies such as Glimpse and Tueo Health, and has forged partnerships with top-tier healthcare organisations like the Mayo Clinic.
