Anya Taylor-Joy's new movie The Menu confirms Disney+ release date

Anya Taylor-Joy's new movie The Menu is heading to Disney+ in the new year.

It's been confirmed that the Mark Mylod-directed black comedy will be available to stream on the platform from Wednesday 4 January, providing subscribers with the ideal way to ring in 2023.

The film follows a young couple who visit an exclusive restaurant where an acclaimed chef has prepared a lavish tasting menu, but as the evening unfolds and they're presented with some sinister surprises, tensions start to rise.

Taylor-Joy and X-Men star Nicholas Hoult play the young couple, Margot and Tyler, while Harry Potter's Ralph Fiennes stars as the restaurant's eccentric chef, Julian Slowik.

The cast also includes Rob Yang (Succession), Arturo Castro (The Recruit), Mark St. Cyr (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series), Judith Light (Tick, Tick...Boom!), Reed Birney (Mass), Janet McTeer (Ozark), Paul Adelstein (Prison Break), John Leguizamo (Violent Night), Aimee Carrero (Spirited) and Hong Chau (The Whale).

Expect to see plenty of twists and turns ahead, some of which even kept Hoult guessing until he had finished reading the script.

"I'm not smart enough to see at all where it was going, I was really enjoying the ride," the actor told Digital Spy.

"I was like: 'What is this?' and then, that was really fun – getting to the end and I was like: 'Ah, I didn't see any of that, this all makes sense."

He added: "So hopefully that's the experience people have watching the film. I think it is good to go into it without too much prior knowledge if possible."

The Menu will available to stream on Disney+ from January 4, 2023.
