With the promise of sunnier days and warmer temperatures, I've been on the hunt for my perfect summer base. What can provide enough coverage, but feels lighter and more hydrating compared to my favourite full-coverage formulas?

Posing the question to my fellow beauty colleagues, I was surprised that the resounding winner was the one bottle that has stayed buried in the depths of my 'need to test' makeup bag for months: Rosalique’s 3-in-1 Miracle Formula.

Since its launch in 2018, the colour-correcting cream has remained a trusted product in the industry, mostly used by rosacea sufferers to help mask flare-ups. I’ve used it pretty much every day for the past few weeks and can confirm that it has earned 'irreplaceable status' in my summer makeup routine. Here's why...

Rosalique’s 3-in-1 Anti-Redness Miracle Formula, reviewed

While redness isn’t a continuous concern of mine, it still manifests in many ways and intensities; sometimes it’s a light flush or a stressful situation leaves my cheeks glowing like a radioactive tomato. Rosalique’s Miracle Formula is one of the few products that can calm down flare-ups and even out my splotchy complexion, without feeling heavy like a full-coverage foundation.

So, how is this possible? The cream is a green-tinted formula that uses colour theory to balance out red undertones in the skin. (For extra context, red and green are at opposite ends of the colour wheel, so green helps to counteract rosy tones.) Don’t be alarmed at just how green the formula is as, in just a few strokes, it miraculously adapts itself to perfectly match the undertone and shade of the skin.

Unlike many colour correction formulas I’ve tried, the cream doesn’t leave a grey or flat finish. Instead, it leaves a result that makes skin look like, well, skin. It’s not dewy, nor is it matte: it sits in-between which, for an everyday look, feels very right. The formula isn’t pigmented enough to conceal a spot – you'll still have to rely on a concealer to do that – but, instead, it adds a gentle veil of coverage that looks like I have naturally great-looking skin.

I also appreciate how delicate the pigment is: it's a formula that will cover but won’t cake. With just a few strokes of a brush, it does a phenomenally good job at smoothing redness and unifying my complexion – and it does so with the least amount of product possible. I find that one layer is plenty, but I can also double up on the areas that need it most, like around my nose and cheeks.

Sometimes I leave it here if I want a barefaced finish, but I also love how well it plays with other cosmetics like concealer, blush and bronzer. However, I would advise applying the Rosalique cream after you’ve done your skincare routine, especially if you have dry skin. I occasionally find that it clings onto rough patches, so I always use a hyaluronic acid serum and rich moisturiser underneath the formula to prevent this.

Above all, what impresses me most is that it takes little time or dexterity to apply. The clock is never on my side in the morning, but I still like to leave the house with a slick of makeup on. Rosalique’s Miracle Formula makes the impossible seem possible.

Nothing is stopping you from using it all year round, but for the summer season when I want my base to look a little fresher, it gives me the touch of coverage required to conceal redness while allowing my natural freckles to peep through. I can blend it with my fingertips and in a matter of moments the formula has touched up my skin in the most natural way.
