Ant and Dec announced their show Saturday Night Takeaway would be going on hiatus last year with their final show airing on Saturday 13 April.

The Geordie pair lined up a huge show with lots of celebrity appearances, the final Ant vs Dec and the biggest end of the show show, ever.

As the show came to an end, Dec said: "When we started this back in 2002, we thought we'd be lucky if we got to do this for maybe a couple of years, so what's happened has honestly been beyond our wildest dreams.

"We have truly adored every second of making this show, but there's one thing we've never, ever forgotten, and that's the fact that it's not our show, it's your show, so we'd like to say a massive thank you to you, our incredible audience."

While Ant and Dec stepped away from their show, they were seen the following week on Britain’s Got Talent where they are also the hosts.

The first show that aired on Saturday 20 April saw two Golden Buzzer acts go all the way through to the semi-finals. Sydnie Christmas, 28, impressed the judges with her voice leading Amanda Holden to press the first Golden Buzzer of the series.

The final act was Ssaulabi Performance Troupe who had travelled all the way from South Korea - and were put through by Ant and Dec.

The group were in complete shock as Ant and Dec raced from their spot at the side of the stage to the judging panel.

Judge Bruno said the “power, the beauty and the artistry” of their performance blew everything he had seen before “out of the water”, while Alesha praised their “discipline hard work and dedication”.

The judges previously revealed that nine golden buzzers will be awarded this series, breaking their usual one-per-person limit.
