Anna Delvey just posted an Instagram video following Inventing Anna
Netflix's Inventing Anna has got us officially hooked on the true story of convicted fraudster Anna Delvey. Fans have been very vocal about their standout character from the show, while there's been plenty of discussion about lead actor Julia Garner's accent as she embodies Anna.
On top of the response from viewers, the real Anna Delvey has also spoken out about the series, writing in an Insider essay, "it doesn't look like I'll be watching Inventing Anna anytime soon."
Since then, Delvey has returned to Instagram, even changing her bio to read, "Reinventing Anna," while her name is listed as, "Anna Delvey2.0".
Now, the fake heiress has posted an Instagram video as part of an interview with the New York Times titled 'Anna Sorokin on Inventing Anna and Life After Rikers [prison]', while she currently remains in ICE custody for overstaying her visa.
Revisiting a previous 2019 interview where she said she was "not sorry" for her financial crimes, Delvey explains in the video, "It was actually the very first question that the parole board asked, and it did definitely follow me around quite a bit. Looking back at it now almost three years later, I don’t endorse any of the ways that I chose to resort to … while going about what I’ve done. And I’m not proud of anything," before adding, "I like to think that my intentions were not fraudulent."
Delvey also previously posted a photo of Julia Garner in character as her in Inventing Anna, adding the caption, "Inventing me".
Responding to a question about what she'd like viewers to know beyond Inventing Anna, Delvey told the NYT, "There is definitely a lot more to my story that I’d like to share. With that in mind, I’m working on multiple projects. I’m working on a documentary project with Bunim Murray Productions in Los Angeles. I’m also working on a book about my time in jail and working on a podcast as well."
She went on, "I’m not trying to encourage people to commit crimes. I’m just trying to shed light on how I made the best out of my situation, without trying to glorify it. This is what I’m creating out of that story."
The article also reports that Netflix paid Delvey $320,000 (£235,800) for her life rights to the series, with the conwoman also consulting on the project.
