Angelina Jolie’s latest red-carpet outing was a family affair.

The 48-year-old walked arm-in-arm with her 16-year-old son Knox as she attended the Governors Awards at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Los Angeles last night.

Jolie opted for an elegant, floor-length vintage gold gown, which she paired with a statement necklace and teardrop earrings. Meanwhile, Knox kept things classic in a black tuxedo.

It’s the first time in three years that Knox has attended an event with his family, having last walked the red carpet alongside his siblings – Maddox, 23, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twin sister Vivienne – to support his mother when she started in Marvel’s Eternals in 2021 (Knox’s 20-year-old brother Pax was not present for that particular outing).

However, Jolie has previously explained that Knox, whom she shares with ex-husband Brad Pitt, and his other siblings prefer to shy away from the limelight despite their A-List parents.

Jolie herself made a triumphant return to the red carpet at 81st Venice Film Festival, where she attended the world premiere of her hotly anticipated film, Maria. Directed by Pablo Larraín, the film is a biographical drama about the late opera singer Maria Callas – and features Jolie’s actual singing voice.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie explained that she felt deeply connected to the tragic figure. “I’m sure there’s a lot that will be read into it of our overlaps as women, but the one that’s maybe not the most obvious is I’m not sure how comfortable we both are with being public. And there was a pressure behind the working that wasn’t just the joy of the work,” she told the outlet.

“And yet I do love to create, she does love to sing, but sometimes there are all these other things that take that joy away and change the experience of that.

“It was quite hard, what she went through. People were quite aggressive when she wasn’t able to be what they wanted her to be. They were very unkind, and she carried a lot of trauma and she worked very, very hard. I just began to really care about her and wanted that aspect of the story to be told.”
