Andie MacDowell reminds us why we all want to be her - or friends with
Is there anyone more effortlessly elegant than Andie MacDowell? The 66-year-old Four Weddings and a Funeral star was photographed at the L'Oréal Paris Women of Worth celebration on Thursday night, wearing a camel coat dress, matching leather clutch bag and simple gold earrings.
Held to honour 'women who uplift their communities through service,' the event was held at NeueHouse Hollywood in Los Angeles. MacDowell was joined on the red carpet by her fellow L'Oréal Paris ambassadors Cara Delevingne, Helen Mirren, Aja Naomi and Elle Fanning. Collectively known as ‘the dream team’ the brand’s ambassadors span several generations, with the youngest, Fanning, aged 26 and the oldest, Mirren, 79.
All five looked glorious but McDowell and Mirren, who at one point were photographed clutching each others’ hands, stole the show. Having signed with the company in 1985, MacDowell is L’Oreal Paris’ longest-running ambassador. She recently admitted that she spent decades feeling uncomfortable voicing the famous slogan, ‘because I’m worth it’ for fear of appearing vain, and had only grown comfortable with saying it over the last few years.
Appearing at the ceremony in a generously draping, long-sleeved gown, her silver hair slicked back, she looked not only chic but also conspicuously comfortable. The annual event, now in its 19th year, highlights ten women working in the non-profit sector. Each receives $25,000 to support their charitable cause, as well as mentorship from within the L’Oréal Paris network.
This year’s honourees included Hillary Cohen, the Co-Founder of Every Day Action, an organization that aims to eliminate food waste and Wawa Gatheru, Executive Director of Black Girl Environmentalist, which aims to empower the next generation of Black women and gender expansive climate leaders.
