Andie MacDowell says her grey hair 'looks good' and she's 'tired of trying to be young'
The actor, 64, has also revealed the poignant reason she waved goodbye to her trademark brunette tresses.
Andie MacDowell has said her grey hair "looks good" on her as she reveals she's "tired of trying to be young".
The actor, 64, shared the poignant reason behind her decision to grow out her natural locks during the pandemic.
Speaking to Katie Couric in an interview shared on YouTube, the star said: "Because my mother died when she was 53, I was 23, I never got to see her transition [to grey hair]."
She noted that once she made the decision to commit to waving goodbye to her trademark brunette mane she only experienced positives.
MacDowell, who rose to fame in the films Four Weddings And A Funeral and Groundhog Day, continued: "I was right. It looks good on me."
She added: "As it was growing out my eyes popped. The colour of them looked a little different. I liked the way my skin looked better.

"It empowered me more. I felt more powerful and I felt more genuine and I felt more myself."
The mother-of-three insisted that "everyone's been wonderful about it" but that there are still people who tell her she looks "older".
While MacDowell acknowledged that "there's something that happens in our brain with women with silver hair" making us associate it with ageing.
However, she insisted: "I want to be old. I'm tired of trying to be young."

The star generated much praise when she debuted her grey hair on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival in 2021.
Other famous women to embrace their silver locks include Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jane Fonda and Dawn French.
