Ana De Armas And Keanu Reeves Are Working On The 'John Wick' Spin-Off 'Ballerina'
Get ready for a new powerful duo to take over our screens: Ana de Armas and Keanu Reeves.
The 34-year-old Blonde star and The Matrix actor are teaming up for a new film titled Ballerina - a spin-off to the latter's hit action franchise John Wick, with de Armas in a leading role.
According to Deadline, the upcoming Lionsgate film will also see another familiar face, Ian McShane, join the ensemble, as The Continental Hotel manager named Winston, who he played in the original 2014 John Wick film.
Ballerina will explore the life of a young female assassin, (De Armas) who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family, in a similar vein to how Wick took vengeance against those who had wronged him in the John Wick films.
Of course, this won't be the first time the actors have appeared on screen together, having previously starred in the 2015 thriller Knock Knock together.
Ballerina is currently in production, with Len Wiseman directing from an adaption of a script by Shay Hatten. But if you're in need of some Reeves goodness, then you'll be happy to hear that his fourth John Wick film - John Wick: Chapter 4 - is due for release on Friday, March 23, 2023.
In recent months, De Armas has recently been praised for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in 2022 Netflix drama Blonde about the late actor's life, despite mixed reactions from viewers over the portrayal of Monroe and the power dynamics presented in the film.
Defending some of the explicit scenes in Netflix's Blonde, released on September 23, De Armas told Entertainment Weekly: 'I didn’t feel exploited because I was in control. I made that decision.
'I knew what the movie was doing. I trusted my director. I felt like I was in a safe environment.'
The actor also recently starred in the psychological thriller Deep Water, alongside Ben Affleck, as well as The Gray Man with Ryan Gosling, and in Bond's No Time to Die, in which she played CIA agent Paloma opposite Daniel Craig.
We can't wait to see what she gets up to in Ballerina. Bring it on.
