Amy Dowden's statement over Strictly Come Dancing return after sharing sad cancer news
Amy Dowden has shared her hopes of returning to Strictly Come Dancing later this year after being forced to miss the most recent series following a breast cancer diagnosis. In February, Amy, 33, revealed that her latest health check showed there was "no evidence of disease" however she won't get the all-clear for five years.
She added that she will need to return to hospital for check ups as well a monthly injection, to keep her "hormone fed" cancer at bay. In an appearance on BBC Breakfast, the TV star has now opened up about returning to the Strictly dancefloor. She said: "If Strictly will have me back, I'll be back.
"The goal and the dream is to be back on the dancefloor, as well. Cause I've missed it so, so much." She also added: "I'm working really, really hard and getting my body back with rehab and physio. Got a brilliant team, so fingers crossed I'll be back on your screens dancing later this year."
It comes after Amy shared that her eyelashes have fallen out again due to her ongoing cancer treatment. Taking to her Instagram story to give fans a health update from her car while on her way to a hospital appointment, she said: "Good morning, everyone. It's been ages since I've come on and spoke to you all.
"But I'm not going to lie, I've come an hour early by mistake for my blood test at the hospital so I thought, do you know what, I'm going to come on and say hello to you all."
She continued: "Excuse the wild hair. I have put this serum on it to help keep the condition a bit, but it's gone a bit curly and a bit wild. I've also lost my eyelashes again, only a few of them. They are growing back again, but I did read when I was having treatment quite a few posts from ladies who said that they had lost them again, like after the 12-week cycle they lost them once more.
"So let me know if this has happened to you. It's a little bit frustrating, but it's not the end of the world. Anyway, I didn't come on to say that to you but I got carried away."
Ending the post, Amy said: "Anyway, I'm going to go in and see some of the nurses maybe. But have a lovely Friday, everybody, and I'm sending you all my Welsh love." She then blew a kiss at the camera.
