Amy Dowden supported by pals Kelsey Parker and Giovanna Fletcher after Strictly Come Dancing statement
Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has headed off to the Cotswolds for some quality time with her celeb pals. Amy shared her trip on social media and posted a selfie with Giovanna Fletcher, Kelsey Parker, Candice Brown.
The celebrities have gone to a retreat and appear to be pampering themselves while being away from their families.
In a short Instagram story Amy was clad in a dressing gown and held up a glass of wine to the camera, she said: “We’re working hard aren’t we Kels? We’re going to get in the hot tub.” As Kelsey uncovered the hot tub on the deck of their holiday cottage.
Amy’s mid-week getaway comes after a statement about her future on Strictly Come Dancing.
In an appearance on BBC Breakfast, the TV star opened up about returning to the dancefloor. She said: "If Strictly will have me back, I'll be back.
"The goal and the dream is to be back on the dancefloor, as well. Cause I've missed it so, so much. I'm working really, really hard and getting my body back with rehab and physio. Got a brilliant team, so fingers crossed I'll be back on your screens dancing later this year."
During a previous chat with OK! Amy even revealed which celebs she'd like to be paired with this year.
“I’d love to dance with actors Luke Evans or Zac Efron. If they weren’t available, I think someone like [Good Morning Britain’s] Ben Shephard would be good.
“I love a challenge and I love making them fall in love with dancing. I love everything about Strictly Come Dancing and I’m just grateful to be part of the show.
"This year, it will be great to get those dancing shoes back on and be back with the gang where I belong. 2024 is certainly looking far better than 2023.”
Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023 which she underwent gruelling treatment for including chemotherapy and a mastectomy. In February 2024, Amy revealed her last check up saw “no sign of the disease”.
During the time of her diagnosis, Amy was filming her BBC Wales show Dare to Dance, and sung the praises of her Strictly co-stars, Dianne Buswell, Graziano Di Prima, Oti Mabuse and Carlos Gu, who stepped in to help when Amy was unwell.
“I was so grateful that they came on board and did everything to help,” she said. "I know them and their personalities and their teaching styles.
"I knew Carlos would be perfect for Kirsty [who grew up dancing but stopped when she lost her sight], and Graz would be perfect for Rich [a firefighter who loves street dance]."
