Amy Dowden flooded with support as she stands in for Strictly co-star in latest career move
BBC Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden may have shot to fame with her incredible dance moves but she's relying on her voice rather than her footwork in her latest role.
For the Caerphilly-born dancer is currently stepping in for Wynne Evans on his BBC Radio Wales daytime show while he takes a break. And it seems Amy is loving her latest role as she posted a photo on her Instagram account from her desk at the Cardiff-based station.
The 34-year-old said: "Loved covering the lovely @wynneevans radio show today. I’m back covering again tomorrow morning 9am-12! Get in touch, have loved hearing from you all this morning."

Fans rushed to comment on Amy's post with one saying: "Was lovely to listen this morning - can’t wait for tomorrow morning too." Another said: "You did SO good! loved listening to you." While a third added: "Love you Amy! Happy New Year you beautiful queen."
A fourth commented after calling into the show saying: "I absolutely loved talking to you even if I was very star struck." And a fifth added: "Yay- always look forward to hearing more Amy on the radio."
Amy is no stranger to broadcasting, of course, and has previously appeared on BBC Radio Wales as well as had her own BBC Wales dance series, Amy Dowden's Dare To Dance, and she regularly appears on ITV1's Lorraine show.
In 2024 Amy made a Strictly Come Dancing comeback after undergoing breast cancer treatment although her return was cut short due to a foot injury. Her celebrity partner, JB Gill, was then paired up with fellow pro Lauren Oakley and they made it through to the final.
Meanwhile, Amy has said she still hopes to become a parent one day after freezing five embryos with her husband ahead of her treatment for breast cancer.
Amy, who experienced early menopause as a result of chemotherapy, admitted she would ‘love’ to start a family and is hopeful that she and her husband Ben will be ‘lucky enough’ to have children.
She told the What If podcast: “I’m just saying yes to as many opportunities and living life to the full, spending time with loved ones as well and obviously, we would love a family.
“And we’ve got embryos because obviously I’ve got a hormone fed cancer, so I had to go to menopause, which happened the day I started chemo.
“So in a couple of years, when they feel it’s safe to, hopefully we’ll have the opportunity. “And if not, there’s still lots of other opportunities, which we have spoken about.”
