Amy Dowden enjoys beach getaway with friends after Strictly Come Dancing statement

Amy Dowden has been whisked away on a relaxing weekend retreat by friends to enjoy some quality time together as she prepares to return to work.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 33, has been battling breast cancer and recently vowed to return to the programme after being forced to miss the most recent series and take a year out.

But in a new update, the Welsh beauty has revealed that she and her closest friends have escaped their busy lives to enjoy some peace and tranquillity together at Portwrinkle beach on the south east coast of Cornwall.

It comes after Amy's positive news in February where she revealed that her latest health check showed there was "no evidence of disease" however she won't get the all-clear for five years.

The weekend trip comes just days after Amy's midweek getaway with celeb pals Giovanna Fletcher, Kelsey Parker and Candice Brown at The Lakes by Yoo in the Cotswold's.

Amy’s busy weekend comes after a statement about her future on Strictly Come Dancing.

In an appearance on BBC Breakfast, the TV star opened up about returning to the dancefloor . She said: "If Strictly will have me back, I'll be back.

"The goal and the dream is to be back on the dancefloor, as well. Cause I've missed it so, so much. I'm working really, really hard and getting my body back with rehab and physio. Got a brilliant team, so fingers crossed I'll be back on your screens dancing later this year."

Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023 which she underwent gruelling treatment for including chemotherapy and a mastectomy. In February 2024, Amy revealed her last check up saw “no sign of the disease”.
