The Amazon Smart Plug allows you to control your lights, gadgets, appliances and other devices with a physical on/off switch or voice control via Amazon's Alexa.
To get started, you can use an Alexa-enabled device — such as an Echo, Fire TV or Fire tablet — or you can also use the Alexa app. After inserting the plug into your outlet, use your Alexa app to add it under "Devices." Then, all you have to do is say, "Alexa, turn on First Plug."
You can then use the plug to not only add voice control to things like your fans or lights, but to also create automated schedules. For example, you can create a routine in the app for it to turn on your coffee machine at a certain time (allowing you to wake up to fresh java).
It's exclusively set up for Alexa and won't work with other voice assistants. And note that a smart home hub is not required to use the plug.
