Amanda Holden's rare comments on Neil Morrissey affair during Les Dennis marriage

Amanda Holden has made a few rare comments about her former marriage with Les Dennis, but one unearthed interview saw her open up about her affair with Neil Morrissey.

Amanda and her ex-husband met while performing in The Sound of Music in 1993, and they got married in 1995 when the Heart Radio star was 22 and the comedian was 40. They split up briefly in 2000 after Amanda had an affair with Men Behaving Badly actor Neil, but in 2001 they briefly reconciled before confirming the end of their marriage the following year.

As well as recently describing Les as her "saviour" amid their divorce, Amanda has also previously accepted responsibility for the breakdown of their marriage, admitting: "It was my fault."

In 2013, Amanda described Neil as "caring" and said he received too much blame for their affair. "Neil rightly or wrongly got loads of stick. I feel like it was my fault - I was the one who was married," she told Good Housekeeping.

"I want to change the general perception of him, as he was very caring and very loving and very worried about me because I lost so much weight. He used to cook for me and look after me and babysit the dogs."

Neil later publicly apologised to Les for his part in the affair on Piers Morgan's Life Stories. He said: "I feel sorry for how the situation was dealt with and I feel sorry for how emotional Les seemed to become. It was very difficult for him and for that I'm very sorry."

Amanda went on to find love with record producer Chris Hughes, who happens to be the son of Les' agent Mike Hughes. They met in Los Angeles in 2003 and wed on 10 December 2008 after a five-year relationship.

Unlike her wedding with Les, which saw her wear silk gloves and a satin dress, Amanda rocked an Elie Saab strappy embellished gown for her winter wedding at St Margaret’s Church in Somerset and Babington House.

The pair have since welcomed two daughters together – Alexa and Hollie. Their son Theo was sadly stillborn in 2011.
