Amanda Holden and Alan Carr are back living la dolce vita in the second series of their show The Italian Job, as they purchase a bargain home for 1€ in the idyllic region of northern Tuscany and raise it up from its ruins and into a luxury holiday home.

The TV presenting duo – who have a shared passion for travel and interior design – will once again be donning their hard hats and throwing themselves into the Italian way of life, as they take on their depilated property and transform it into an inhabitable abode, which will then go on sale with all the profits being donated to charity.

In a statement, Amanda spoke about filming this series in Tuscany. She said: "Tuscany is completely different. I mean, the Sicilian location last year felt sort of, in a lot of ways, a lot more glamorous than this.

"This one was more tranquil and secluded, it was literally in the middle of nowhere in a sort of crevice of a mountain. It's very green, a bit more moist weather, let's say that, and it was a medieval house, which was so much bigger a project than we ever thought it would be."

Alan also spoke about the success of the first series. He said: "Filming this series, we were in the airport at Pisa, and a couple came over, it was two girls, they said, 'We’ve bought a house for a Euro as well. You inspired us!'"

The BBC explained that by bringing new life into villages and small towns, many Italian municipalities offer decrepit houses for sale for a symbolic 'One Euro' price to be renovated for use once more. Alan and Amanda’s property is one of the many empty properties being sold at rock-bottom prices.

Here's everything else we know about The Italian Job below...

The Italian Job: When will it air?

The show will air on BBC One on Fridays at 8.30pm, starting on 5 January 2024.

Amanda shared a taster of the second series on her Instagram, showing the pair arriving in Tuscany and taking a look at the 17th century house they've bought, before getting stuck into the renovation.

Alan also shared a hilarious clip on his Instagram of the pair attempting Italian slang, and trying to guess what the other was saying.

The Italian Job: What will it be about?

Amanda Holden and Alan Carr have renovated their own properties in the past, but the pair have never taken on a property on this scale before. This time, the pair have bought a medieval watchtower in the rural hamlet of Fornovolasco in northern Tuscany.

The duo will be trying their hand at everything – from plumbing to painting and plastering – along with drafting in local tradespeople to show them the ropes and help keep the project on track.

So, think A Place in the Sun meets Escape to the Chateau.

We're also hoping Amanda and Alan will show off some of their DIY skills and give us some home craft inspiration.

We can't wait!

The Italian Job will air on BBC One at 8.30pm on Friday 5 January and will be available to watch on iPlayer.
