Aldi introduces new flavour of Jaffa Cakes – but not everyone is a fan
Some Aldi shoppers are itching to try out a new and "interesting" flavour of Jaffa Cakes from the well-loved budget supermarket. However, others aren't as keen.
Known for its thrifty must-haves and lifestyle items, Aldi first started in Germany in 1961, quickly amassing a loyal following worldwide.
Customers can't wait to grab all sorts of products from its wide-ranging selection including food, homeware, and household goods. One such recent addition is turning heads among those who love a sugary treat – an Aldi version of Cherry Bakewell-flavoured Jaffa Cakes, adding a twist to the classic British snack.

Aldi's take on popular items isn't new, having been previously embroiled in a high-profile battle with Marks and Spencer over a caterpillar cake. The latest offering, Belmont Cherry Bakewell Jaffa Cakes sold in packs of twelve, set off a social media buzz after being highlighted.
New Foods UK, a significant influencer with over 366K Instagram followers, showcases new finds in stores nationwide leading to mass discussion and review. When they posted about Aldi's Cherry Bakewell rendition, the image quickly amassed over 10,000 likes.
New Foods UK shared their verdict in the caption: "New Cherry Bakewell Jaffa Cakes! Wasn't too sure how good these would be, but the Cherry Bakewell flavour is spot on!"
The post sparked a lively discussion among shoppers, with one person asking a friend to pick up the treats if they spotted them in Aldi, saying: "If you're in Aldi and you see these could you pretty please get me some". Another shopper simply commented "Interesting", while someone who had already tried the Cherry Bakewell Jaffa Cakes wrote: "I can confirm they are spectacular - highly recommend."
However, not everyone was convinced, with one person expressing concern that the snack's growing popularity would make it harder to get hold of. They wrote: "No don't share these, they were the best kept secret! I used to have to travel to France for these God-Tier mouthfuls!"
Others were more sceptical, with one person asking a friend: "How do we feel about these? I bloody love a Jaffa Cake and can happily see off a cherry Bakewell but put your hands together.....I'm not sure". Their friend replied: "Ahhh yeah I'm not sold on these? I don't mind a Cherry Bakewell. Next time I'm in there I'll see if they have them, taste test required".
Some people were firmly opposed to the idea, with one person declaring: "Not for me" and another saying: "Just no. Companies need to stop a**ing about with chocolate. Jaffa cakes should be orange, and nothing else."
