Aldi has officially confirmed when shoppers can pop into stores for their Christmas turkeys this year - and prices begin from under £6.

With Christmas already being an expensive time of year, it's worth looking for the best prices for the festive bird. Fortunately, the German supermarket is keeping prices low for shoppers once again this year.

The discounter has shared with its customers that it is offering "the UK’s cheapest fresh whole British turkeys". Available in stores from Thursday, December 19, prices begin from £5.90 for a small bird, with Aldi confirming it "will not be beaten on price".

Small birds (2-4.49kg) serve between six to 11 people, while a medium (4.5-5.99kg) services between 11 to 14 people. There's also a large bird (6.8kg) that serves larger households between 15 to 18 people.

However, if you're short on time and want to miss the inevitable rush for Aldi's fresh turkeys, then you can opt for the retailer's frozen option. Available in stores now, shoppers will find frozen turkeys in three sizes, with prices beginning from £2.50 per kg.

Aldi isn't just helping shoppers to save money on turkeys this Christmas, as the retailer has confirmed the return of its highly popular "Super Six" promotion. In the build up to the big day, many supermarkets slash the cost of fresh veg staples, with Aldi leading the race this year.

Also available in stores from December 19, the festive promotion has slashed the price of six fresh veggies you often find on your dinner plate at Christmas. This includes white potatoes, carrots, parsnips, red & white cabbages, Brussel sprouts and broccoli.

It comes just after Aldi was recently unveiled as the cheapest UK supermarket for November in the latest Which? monthly comparison. The analysis looks at prices across eight of the UK's leading supermarket chains including Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys.

So far, the budget chain has been found to be offering the lowest prices for every month of the year so far, with rival Lidl usually coming in second. Last year, Aldi was revealed as the overall cheapest UK supermarket for 2023, taking the title for 11 out of 12 months.

Aldi's fresh Christmas turkeys will land in stores from December 19. Meanwhile, frozen turkeys are available to buy nationwide now.
