For many of us the first thing we do after we wake up is make a steaming cup of coffee to help kickstart the day. This warming morning tradition is especially needed with the current cold weather.

But what if your morning coffee could be more than just a warm drink? What if it could help reset the clock and get rid of your fine lines and wrinkles?

Neuroscientist Robert Love believes that adding one simple ingredient to coffee will boost the anti-ageing process. Through his TikTok account, where he shares a multitude of health advice, Robert suggests the best way to prepare your coffee in order to benefit your body's function throughout the day.

He advises people to steer away from conventional coffee, which may include pesticides that are claimed to be bad for your brain and body, Surrey Live reports.

Instead, you should opt for an organic coffee and also use distilled water for the best coffee experience. The final vital ingredient he adds to help slow down the ageing process may already be well known to many people for its revitalising effects.

Robert claimed: "The best thing to add to your coffee to help slow down ageing is collagen peptides. Collagen has great benefits for the skin, it has great benefits for the overall body - you can read the research on how people who take collagen have so many benefits from taking it.

"You want grass-fed or pasture-raised collagen - it has to be the highest quality. Next, make sure it's third-party tested. It means you're getting the highest quality.

"Lastly, this one (shown in TikTok) has got Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid in it. Vitamin C is necessary to use collagen effectively in your body so, when you take collagen, either take a Vitamin C supplement with it or get one with Vitamin C in it.

"Hyaluronic acid is really good for the skin, it's good for the plumpness and health of your skin. So this has so many great benefits. I add this to my coffee. I love it."

This simple hack shocked many viewers who are now starting to make the change. One user said:" Organic Coffee. Distilled water. Collagen peptides. Vitamin C on the side. Thank you!" Another said: "Always looking for ways to make my coffee better."

How does collagen promote anti-ageing?

Taking collagen orally is seen to help boost the skin's moisture - especially the stratum corneum - while reducing any roughness and wrinkles. The National Institutes of Health also claims that studies show that collagen can improve elasticity.

However, it should be highlighted that collagen won't completely prevent ageing. Seeking advice from a healthcare professional before use is also advised as some supplements can contain ingredients that can be unsuitable due to allergies or dietary requirements, such as fish, shellfish and egg.
