Adam Thomas’ unlikely friendship with Jake Paul as fans left divided
Adam Thomas has revealed his unlikely friendship with boxer and content creator Jake Paul. With Jake recently beating Mike Tyson in a match that was shown live on Netflix, Adam, 36, took to Instagram to show his support for the YouTuber - who he referred to as “my boy”.
In the post, the Waterloo Road star wore an off-white sweatshirt and pair of navy blue shorts as he sat on the edge of a boxing ring alongside Jake, 27, who wore a red T-shirt and patterned shorts. In the snap, the pair both raised a fist to the cameras as they smiled for the shot.
“Congrats to my boy @jakepaul last night,” the caption read. “Say what you want about this guy… but he knows how to put on a show! Nothing but respect… don’t get me wrong wasn't the best fight in the world haha but we all tuned in to watch it haha…. No one got hurt, we didn’t have to pay for it and they got payed !! Everyone wins!!”

However, the post proved controversial and Adams’ followers were left divided over the pair’s friendship, with some expressing their surprise over the photo. “But I liked you adam whyyyyy,” commented one. “Hell no,” said another.
On the other hand, others showed their respect for the pair’s friendship. “I bet he’s cool as off camera fair play he’s an awesome businessman made millions and playing and doing a good job of playing bad guy respect to him,” wrote one. “Everyone commenting saying they used to like you but because of this they now don’t is crazy. It’s television, it’s a show don't get so invested in it.”
In response to the mixture of comments, Adam took to his Instagram Story to repost the photo alongside another message. “Mad world how people can hate someone they’ve never met haha these comments are hilarious,” he wrote.
The post comes after Jake took on Mike Tyson in what was the latter’s first fight in 19 years. Following the match, Jake said: “Mike Tyson, he's a legend. He's the greatest to ever do it. I look up to him and we wouldn't be here today without him. This man is an icon and it's an honour to fight him. It was tough like I expected it to be.”
Meanwhile, Mike also reflected on the bout and added: “I'm not surprised (it went the distance). I knew he was a good fighter, I came prepared. I didn't prove nothing to anybody, only to myself. I'm just happy with what I can do.”
