Dame Joanna Lumley is a veteran of British comedy, and the star is finally returning with a new role in a special video, opposite rising comedy legend Amelia Dimoldenberg.

Dame Joanna and 'Chicken Shop Date' interviewer Amelia have joined forces for a brand new video to celebrate 40 years of Comic Relief, which has raised £1.6 billion for good causes in that time.

In a the witty new sketch, Dame Joanna plays herself, promoting the cause, while Amelia advises her with a 'vibe check'. As Dame Joanna lists through iconic Comic Relief moments from the past four decades (including a Mama Mia skit, celebrities climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and Dawn French snogging Hugh Grant), Amelia looks less than impressed.

To celebrate the milestone occasion this year, she says that Dame Joanna should use some modern slang to try to encourage people to get involved. In one hilarious moment, Dame Joanna looks directly into the camera in alarm and confusion as Amelia refers to her at the GOAT (which stands for the Greatest of All Time).

There are also witty references to each other's most iconic roles, as Dame Joanna asks whether they should film people on a date eating chicken nuggets (the format of Amelia's viral Chicken Shop Date celebrity interview series). Meanwhile, Amelia praises Dame Joanna's rewritten piece to camera as being "absolutely fabulous" (who then turns to camera and says, "Slay" in response).

The video culminates with Dame Joanna addressing the audience directly with lines including, "Hey bestie, Jo Lums here. Buzzing to tell you Comic Relief is turning 40," and, "Its vibes are still immaculate, it's giving 'doing some good'."

Amelia described working with Dame Joanna as "an honour" and said she was "naturally thrilled to be asked to take part in helping to launch this year's Red Nose Day campaign."

Dame Joanna said Red Nose Day was "sensational," adding that, "for 40 years Comic Relief has been a constant in all our lives, bringing us together to help inspire change around the world and here at home. It’s lovely, I adore it."

This march, we'll be treated to a night of Red Nose Day TV with nostalgic live performances, star-studded sketches, memorable comedy, and much more.
