90s teen hunk unrecognisable with incredible new career 36 years since finding fame
A 90s teen hunk is unrecognisable more than three decades after first finding fame on our TV screens - and they have a completely different career, too. Richard Grieco, known for playing Detective Dennis Booker on 21 Jump Street, has swapped his acting career for something equally as creative as he now spends his time making art and music.
Richard, 59, first rose to fame in 1988 when he appeared on the show 21 Jump Street, which ran from 1987 to 1991 and starred other actors including Johnny Depp. Centring around a group of undercover police officers, the hit TV show saw the team investigate crime in the local area.
For movie fans, the name may sound familiar. That’s because the Fox TV series inspired two films, 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street, starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. In a sweet nod to the original series, Richard even had a small role in 22 Jump Street in 2014.

Back in the 90s, viewers will have recognised Richard for his dark hair which he wore in a quiff, though these days he looks a lot different. In a photo shared on Instagram back in March, the actor could be seen with longer hair as well as a beard as he looked into the distance.

“#Saturday pondering about…. Hmmmm many things,” he wrote. In response to the snap, fans flocked to the comments section to gush over Richard and to show him their support.
“Looking awesome!,” wrote one. “You are so stunning every time,” another added. Meanwhile a third wrote: “Do you age… u looking Awesome…Brotha”.
In addition to his time on 21 Jump street, Richard has appeared in the 1991 filmIf Looks Could Kill and also appeared in an episode of the comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. These days Richard tends to keep away from the spotlight in order to focus on his art career, with his passion in art beginning around two decades ago.
“And over the years he has kept a very low profile to aggressively concentrate on his art work,” his website states. “Although his work most often categorised as abstract, you will also see forms of expressionism, surrealism, and cubism just to name a few.” Richard’s website also states that his art is sold all across the world, and that he has cultivated his own style of art which he has dubbed ‘Abstract Emotionalism’.
