There are some crimes of fashion that go unpunished simply because they’re not illegal (like wearing Uggs past the year 2006 — seriously, can they just die already?). But there are others that could actually land you some jail time. Take, for example, the case of Shadiya Omar who stabbed a man in the eye with her Christian Louboutin heel during a fight that broke out over a bag of potato chips. At her hearing recently, Omar’s defense attorney claimed that the 22-year-old had taken off her stilettos because they were pinching her feet and had not intended to wield them as a weapon.

Whether it’s tax evasion, shoplifting, or outright using your accessories as weaponry, sometimes it gets real in fashion and folks act out in a way that can get them in trouble with the law. Here, eight fashion crimes that are way more offensive than simple sartorial faux pas.
