Calvin Klein’s underwear campaigns used to be renowned for one thing: sex.
But since Raf Simons took creative control of every part of the brand, things have been a little different. He chose the cast of Moonlight to show off the men’s underwear range and now comes the women’s turn.
A series of black-and-white photos shot by director Sofia Coppola depict women of all ages. Most importantly, it is all seen from a female perspective – not the usual male gaze.

A star-studded cast including actresses Rashida Jones and Kirsten Dunst star alongside younger faces such as Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman’s daughter, Maya.
The most striking appearance, however, comes from 73-year-old Lauren Hutton. The supermodel is seen in an unbuttoned shirt and sheer bra, making for one of the most diverse lingerie campaigns thus far.
Hutton has been making a huge return to the fashion world. So far, she has walked arm-in-arm with Gigi Hadid on the Bottega Veneta runway and starred in the brand’s campaign.
Casting a 70-something as an underwear model speaks volumes in an industry that still places youth above all. Hopefully, this will be the start of many more to come.
